Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
